Riso Travel

So the travel portion of Riso Weddings is going quite well so far...I've set up a honeymoon for the Itule's to Paris and Germany and family friends of ours were going to Italy last minute and I planned very detailed their trip to Italy! Check out there blog... It's so awesome to see people 'get it' and understand how amazing travel is.

Maybe there will be Riso Travel sooner then later!!! heheheeh

Networking...

I met up with a dear friend of mine, Jen Mazzola of Phoenix Bride & Groom magazine. She has been by my side since Riso Studio ever took on an llc, which was about 2 1/2 years ago! CRAZY! I am going to be able to be a part of the new look for Ashley Manor & Castle in Chandler. I am SOOO excited! They had 6 photographers shooting all day today with a completely set up venue and 3 brides. I am going to have some great shots to work with. I love creative situations like these because I have free reign to come up with something that is classy but will be timeless with a little Riso punch :)

It was a great shoot and introduction to the venue for me. Jen is always looking out for me and now knows the whole scheme of my two fold business: Riso Studio (design) and Riso Weddings (wedding design & honeymoon/travel planning). She is stoked to see me reach for new heights and I cannot wait to work with her more often now!!

As for the Karma DJ, lets hope that sticks with me!

I'm off to San Fran for the 40th anniversary gala of Gonzaga in Florence. I am so honored to have the opportunity to be a part of this reunion and I will get to see Father Bruno (hopefully a little bit before the gala). Another blog will be written about this amazing human. I received good news from Bruns today because he is willing to donate a piece of his artwork to the AIGA art auction that I am joint chairing up with my previous coworker Jen Wilhelm. Anyone that is from GU understands that Bruno's paintings are a prize possession and are few and far between. I have two in my house! heheheh I'm lucky :) The art enthusiasts better be pretty excited about this piece!!!

Enough for now, I have ad deadlines. YIKES!

Turtle

A quick post before I run out and art direct this photo shoot for Phoenix Bride and Groom magazine. They managed to get me a big client for advertising design! WOHOO!

I was walking with Thor the other morning in our little neighboorhood...and I look over to my left and saw something very slowly move across the street. I thought from a far distance that it might have been a hurt bunny or bird..ah no we got closer and it was a TURTLE! This cute little turle just hanging out crossing the road in Old Town. Are you serious...I live in the city, as close to city as it's going to be for Scottsdale and there was a turtle just leisurely crossing the road.

I looked around to see if any of the neighboors for outside looking for their pet turtle. No sign of anyone, as it was only 7:30am!! I asked one neighboor and she looked at me so confused. I woke the brothers up and Ben thought I was crazy making him come out of bed to look at this turtle. He told me to pick it up...I think not!

So, I stood in the middle of the street and waited for the turtle to cross to the other side, making sure that no passing car would hit it. And then he went on his way.

Seriously the weirdest thing!!

Off to the photoshoot. I'll post more once I get home.

Tonight=just the right dose

So I've been in a funk lately....just a life funk I believe. I don't have the best schedule set up for working at home yet and having a new puppy definitely changes the daily 'plan' a bit. I haven't really been able to understand all that is taking place in my life right now, which trust me I know we are not fully supposed to comprehend. But I just have felt that I could be doing something more or filling some sort of void. Not quite sure.

Either way, the Lord works in unbelievable ways....He walked into my life the other day to open my eyes to this 4 part session that is going on called Adore 2097. I was very apprehensive to attend, because I don't like going to Christian events by myself. But I did it...for myself. I've been taking on many challenges that I would normally never do with the intention of being open and learning as much as I can from them. I feel that is what He is putting in front of me right now...challenges that I would normally just brush off because I don't feel comfortable accepting them. Well I'm picking up my cross and walking my path right now. It has made me feel stronger and I know I will benefit fully and completely in the end. SO, another lovely challenge was to attend this session. Now can we note, I've NEVER been one to get very involved with my faith until a few years ago. I have never been on a retreat or get super involved until I moved home from college. It's been a blessing because I've met some great people and I feel just from being more involved with my own faith...I've been drawn to so many other individuals in my field of work that I would have never met until NOW! So I tried to gather people to go to Adore tonight and for some reason it just didn't work out for any of them. SO, there I was attacking my biggest fear of attending something so foreign to me, completely by myself. But then I had a good 30 min drive ahead of me, and I started to think...I'm not going by myself, I'm going with Him, to worship Him. He is right there beside me, I couldn't have asked for a better companion to be there with me. I have moments like these where it just clicks..it's my Ah Hah moment!

So I get there and saw a St. Gabe's friend Bridget. And the night began....it was a smaller crowd but a faith-filled crowd. We were so amazingly blessed to have Matt Maher and his band sing worship with us all night long for 3 hours. I must say, I'm a tad spoiled as I get to hear Matt and the guys sing every Sunday at our parish...BUT it is always a treat to see Matt perform for the Lord he loves so dearly. I don't think I've witnessed someone be so in love with our Lord so publicly, without humility and so full of grace and love. It was an honor tonight to have him and his band lead the worship. If you have never seen Matt in concert: check out his myspace concert schedule...he's one talented man with one heck of a voice!! (http://www.myspace.com/mattmahermusic)

Tonight touched my heart because the beginning of Paul George's 4 part session was about change in our lives. How the Lord wants us to encounter him but at the most inopportune times. He wants to enter our lives and have us be one with him when we least expect but most desperately need it. This talk so paralleled my life lately, as I've taken some crazy turns that have resulted in some dramatic changes lately. And I finally understand that this is the Lord speaking to me to just 'let him in' and draw him closer to me. It's difficult to put everything I took out of tonight's session into words...But I learned that I just need to keep my eyes open and know that these changes in my life are changes that God is intending for me. There is a reason behind them. I was just reminded to trust in him and let him lead me. These changes are just part of his plan!!

If anyone is interested in joining the next Adore 2097, it is on Oct. 11th. at 7pm.

Adore Worship...Wed night

If anyone is interested I'm going to attend the Adore Worship night tomorrow. It's a 4 part session talking about the art of living with worship music from Matt Maher and Paul George as the speaker. Should be very interesting and inspiring. Give me a ring if you want to join. It starts at 7pm. Check out the link

I'm going to post a few of the photos here on the blog for ya'll to see! I've had some inquiries about selling some of my Italy photos...so if you are interested definitely let me know and I can show you the shots. I only have time to post a few. I'll post more in the am :)
